Dr. Corey Allen Williams Announces Candidacy for Danville City School Board

Danville, VA – Dr. Corey Williams, a dedicated educator & community advocate, is pleased to announce his candidacy for the Danville City School Board. With a strong commitment to progressive education, Dr. Williams brings over five years of experience teaching ninth grade English & a current role in higher education that uniquely equips him to address the challenges & opportunities facing our school district.

Dr. Williams believes in the power of education as a transformative tool for individuals and communities. His slogan, "Innovate, Educate, Advocate," reflects his vision for a school system that not only fosters academic excellence but also encourages creativity & social responsibility among students.

“I am passionate about literacy, community engagement & advocacy for our students, especially those from underserved communities,” Dr. Williams stated. “Every student deserves access to a high-quality education & I am committed to ensuring that all voices are heard & represented in our educational system.”

As an innovative & progressive educator, Dr. Williams has consistently worked to promote best practices in literacy & to develop 21st century skills that respond to the diverse needs of today’s generation of students. His experience has taught him the importance of integrating innovative teaching methods with a focus on equity & access, particularly for students who have been historically marginalized.

In addition to his teaching experience, Dr. Williams has held roles in higher education that have provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the academic pipeline & the importance of mentorship. He recognizes that the foundation of a successful education system relies on strong partnerships between schools, families, and the community.

Dr. Williams has outlined several key priorities for his campaign:

• Empowering Educators and Students: Advocate for professional development opportunities that equip teachers with innovative tools and strategies to engage students effectively.

• Strengthening Community Partnerships: Build relationships with local organizations and businesses to create pathways for experiential learning and support for students and families.

• Advocating for Equity and Inclusion: Ensure that policies and practices within the school district prioritize equity, creating a learning environment where every student feels valued and supported.

Dr. Williams's vision for Danville City Schools is one where innovation meets education & advocacy leads to tangible outcomes for all students. His dedication to improving educational experiences for young people, particularly within underserved communities, drives his passion for this role.
